I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much. We went camping near Breckenridge Colorado couple of weekends back and I was expecting it to be crowded since it was near these two big tourist destinations of Frisco and Breckenridge. The site we went to was Prospector Campground and I must say that it was very impressive.
The campground itself is pretty easy to get to either from Breckenridge or Dillon Colorado. There’s a short drive from Frisco and the campground is easily accessible by any large RV. The nice thing about the campground is that it’s located on Dillon Lake. Our campsite was located pretty close to the lake and it was just a 15-minute walk to the lake itself. This provided our family Recreation while we were camping and the kids had the opportunity to play in the lake. The fishing could have been better but maybe it was the fisherman.
I have some pictures of our camp site and a couple views of the lake. There is RV water available but no dumping available. However there is an RV dump station 5 miles down the road that cost you $5 and it’s pretty easy to get to.
If you plan to make a trip to Prospector Campground, do plan ahead and make reservations. Don’t be too concerned if it is crowded since each of the campsites has ample space between them. Also, the lake is an easy walk if you want to get away and have your privacy.
I did bring my XT250 Motorcycle and we found a nice canyon to bike up and it was only about 5 miles south of where we were. Leave a comment and let me know what questions you have.
